At last Thursday, four Hindu families who do not wish to convert to Islam have been relocated to the town of Sittwe, Rakhine state, from the district of Pauk Taw, Rakhine state, with the help of the local authorities.
These Hindu families have been living in the village of Taung Ywar, a Muslim village with approximately 180households, which is located in the southwestern part of Pauk Taw district.

A committee member of the Hindu community of Sittwe said to Narinjara news as follows:

“These families got to Sittwe at 11:30am yesterday, and at 3:00pm the security forces took them to the Hindu refugee camp located at Danyawati ward, where they will be provided the required assistances”

Our reporter learns that this relocation is a result of the plead from Hindu organization of Sittwe to the State Government with regard to the difficulties these Hindu families were facing in their predominantly Muslim community. Upon reviewing that plea, the state authorities approved the relocation process, and with the help of Won Let Foundation,a local NGO in Rakhine state, the relocation process began at the 20th September.
A Hindu committee member who helped for the relocation process said as follows:

“They contacted us and informed the difficulties they were facing. The difficulties are mainly because of religion. The Muslim villagers forced them to convert to Islam, and when they refused to convert their faith, they face various abuses including those are physical in nature, from their fellow-villagers. After facing these threats and abuses, these Hindu families sought refuge in the nearby Rakhine village of “Taw Lae village” for one month and twenty-six days, with the help of the village chairman U Thar Doe Aung. It is only after that period, the relocation to Sittwe began with the approval of the state government.”

Our reporter learns that there are altogether 25people in these 4Hindu families.
